The European Platform Against Windfarms (EPAW) was founded in Paris on October 4th 2008 by a small number of federations, associations and other groups from four EU countries. It now has 524 member-organisations, from 23 countries (individuals cannot become members).
The aim of EPAW is to defend the interests of its members which are either:
We urge European associations and other groups or, where applicable, their federations, to join EPAW. At its inception EPAW represented organisations from Germany, France, Belgium and Spain. Since then we have been joined by groups and associations from the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and many other countries. We hope more will join after reading EPAW’s letter to the European institutions (see link below).
Request for a moratorium
We have complained to the European institutions, requesting the declaration of a moratorium on the approval of all new wind farm projects and on the construction of all those which have been approved. The European Commission replied negatively, but we shall keep pressing for this moratorium. It is clear that the effectiveness of our actions will be proportional to the number of organisations which join EPAW, and to the number of countries involved. We therefore urge all the organisations concerned to register as members.
Take action now
EPAW represents an enormous advance, a landmark in our protracted battle against wind farms. Let’s make EPAW work for us.
Let’s make the European institutions aware:
To this end we invite your organisation, if you belong to one, to join EPAW. There is no charge, fee or contribution required. Just email us at email@example.com advising the following:
United we stand, divided we fall.
